2021 Tata Tigor EV

The new Tata Tigor EV is the new addition to the company's EV portfolio. The electric sedan comes with updated styling, new features and the company's new ZipTron EV powertrain technology. Prices of the EV start from Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV comes in four variants to choose from - XE, XM, XZ+ and XZ+ DT.

The electric sedan is based on the Tigor facelift with similar styling elements. The fascia of the EV is underlined by a new glossy black applique replacing the grille and a tri-arrow pattern with a blue slat underlining. It also gets an EV badge, projector headlights, new horizontal fog lamps with integrated LED DRLs.

The rear of the Tigor EV is neatly designed, which is very much similar to the petrol-powered counterpart. It gets crystal inspired LED taillamps, high mounted LED stop lamp, piano black shark antenna, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, chrome bar running across the tailgate and EV as well as Ziptron badgings.

The electric car comes with a 26kWh lithium-ion battery with a new Permanent Magnet Synchronous electric motor producing 55 kW (74 bhp) of power output along with 170 Nm of peak torque. The lithium-ion battery also gets IP67 certification and an eight-year warranty.

Tata Motors claims an ARAI certified range of 306 km for the Tigor EV. The EV also comes with an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km battery and motor warranty. The carmaker says that the electric subcompact sedan can sprint from zero to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds.

In terms of proportion, the Tigor EV remains very similar to its petrol-powered counterpart. It measures 3993 mm in length, 1677 mm in width, and 1532 mm while the wheelbase stands at 2450 mm. However, the ground clearance has been increased by 2 mm to 172 mm compared to Tigor facelift.

The 2021 Tata Tigor EV became the first Electric Vehicle (EV) ever to be crash-tested by Global NCAP. The EV bagged 4 stars for both adult and child occupant safety. The electric car received better scores compared to the regular petrol engine-powered counterpart that was crash-tested in 2020.

The Tata Tigor EV can be charged up to 80 per cent in less than 60 minutes using a fast charger. It takes 8.5 hours to achieve the same by using a home charger.
