Toyota Innova is a synonym for reliability in the Indian automotive space. Since its introduction till now, the Innova has captured the hearts of Indian car buyers with its spacious cabin, powerful performance, and unique design.

From the Innova to Innova Crysta and Innova HyCross, the car has always exceeded expectations. With Toyota's reputation for durability, the Innova has emerged as a popular choice among families, business professionals, and travel enthusiasts nationwide.

As per the latest reports, Innova HyCross, the latest model, will get extended waiting periods in India. This waiting period extension is due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage and rising market demand.

Upon introducing the Hycross to the market, Toyota gave production preferences to the hybrid versions due to the massive surge in demand. The hybrid variants of the Innova Hycross boast an extensive range of features that require a significant quantity of semiconductors.

The global shortage of semiconductors has now become a headache for Toyota. To cope with the surging demand, Toyota temporarily suspended bookings for the ZX and ZX(O) variants of the Innova Hycross, as confirmed by dealers.

The Toyota Innova Hycross lineup comprises six trims - G, GX, VX, VX(O), ZX, and ZX(O). The G and GX models have a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. From the VX to ZX(O), the Hycross offers a hybrid powertrain.

According to the latest dealer update, the base model G has a waiting period of up to 4 months, whereas the customer has to wait up to 6 months for the GX variant. The VX and VX(O) models have a waiting period of about 10 months.

There is a long waiting period of up to two years for the higher-spec ZX and ZX(O) variants of the HyCross. Customers looking to book these top-spec models will need to wait until Toyota acknowledges the existing bookings before their order can be processed.

Toyota offers Innova HyCross in two powertrains, a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 172bhp and 209Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre strong-hybrid engine that produces 180bhp and 188Nm of torque.

The naturally aspirated petrol variants of the Toyota Innova HyCross get a CVT transmission, and the strong hybrid variants of the car get an e-Drive transmission type, which will add to the economy.

Toyota claims an average of 16.13 km/l for the petrol models and 23.24 km/l for the hybrid models of the HyCross. The HyCross has a price range of Rs 18.55 lakh to Rs 26.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) across variants.

Thoughts On The Extended Waiting Periods Of Toyota Innova HyCross

Despite the huge waiting period blow, Toyota Innova HyCross still enjoys stable demand in the Indian automobile market. The MPV is considered one of the most reliable cars of its time, and all we can do is wait till Toyota sorts things out.
