5-time World Enduro Champion Ivan Cervantes took the Guinness World Record for the greatest distance travelled in 24 hours by an individual on a motorcycle astride a Triumph Tiger.

Cervantes was riding a Triumph Tiger 1200GT Explorer on his record-breaking run in which he covered a total of 4,012.53km at the Nardo test facility in Italy.

Cervantes covered a total of 317 laps of the Nardo High-Speed Ring, which is so large that it can be viewed from space. Cervantes was riding the Tiger at speeds of over 200km/h but over the 24-hour period, he averaged 167.79km/h.

Cervantes was riding so fast that he broke the previous record of 3406.17km achieved by American Carl Reese on 26th February 2017 with 5 hours to spare. Over that time he barely took a break and continued riding through the night despite rain falling on the Nardo ring.

Not content with simply beating the record he rode another 606 kilometres over the next 5 hours to become the first person to officially ride 4,000+ kilometres in a single day.

The final distance over 24 hours as validated by the Guinness World Records adjudicator was 4012.53km, with an average speed of 167.79km/h.

Cervantes was riding a bone stock Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer for his record run. No modifications were done to the bike except for completing the recommended running-in and first service schedule before the attempt was undertaken.

Over the 24-hour period, Cervantes brought the Tiger 1200GT Explorer back to the pits for 18 pitstops for fuel and a planned tyre change which saw the Metzeler Tourance tyres changed for a brand new set halfway through the ride. In all, Cervantes ended up using 520 litres of fuel in his record-breaking run.

Victor Fenes, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Records stated, "I am truly humbled to have witnessed Iván Cervantes's awe-inspiring achievement of setting the Guinness World Records title for the Greatest distance on a motorcycle in 24 hours (individual). Iván's unwavering dedication and Triumph's support embody the values we hold dear at Guinness World Records. It is a true testament to the indomitable spirit of human determination and the pursuit of greatness."
