Triumph Speed 400 Crosses 10,000 Bookings – RE Should Step Up The Game

Triumph Motorcycle along with Bajaj recently launched the much anticipated Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle in India. Now, within 10 days of its launch, the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle has gathered 10,000 bookings.

In India, the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle is priced at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), which is much less than what many expected. However, these first 10,000 customers will get the motorcycle for a special introductory price that is Rs 10,000 lower at Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom).

At present, bookings for the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle is open and interested buyers can book the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle through the automaker's official online platform. Furthermore, the token amount for the Speed 400 motorcycle is capped at just Rs 2,000.

Speaking about the Triumph Speed 400, the motorcycle sports an attractive neo-retro theme with its 'tear-drop' shaped fuel tank and circular design elements such as LED headlamps, LED turn indicators, rear-view mirrors and LED tail lamps. Moreover, the motorcycle also packs in plenty of Triumph design elements as well.

Powering the Triumph Speed 400 is a 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, DOHC, oversquare engine. This engine is tuned to produce 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Furthermore, the motorcycle also comes equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with Slip & Clutch.

In terms of hardware, the Triumph Speed 400 comes equipped with a tubular steel perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe and a twin-sided cast aluminium swingarm. While the suspension duty is taken care of by 43mm USD forks at the front and a gas-charged monoshock at the rear.

The motorcycle also comes equipped with disc brakes at both ends, measuring 300mm at the front and 230mm at the rear. The motorcycle also features dual-channel ABS assistance for more effective braking performance.

With an aggressive price tag, premium hardware bits, and an attractive design, the Triumph Speed 400 has all the ingredients to become a new market leader in the 350cc+ segment motorcycle category. That being said, it is time for Royal Enfield to step up the game.
