Triumph Motorcycles recently launched the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle in India with an aggressive starting price. Along with that, Triumph also revealed the upcoming Scrambler 400X motorcycle based on the same platform.

At the launch event of the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle, it was revealed in a Q&A session that the iconic British two-wheeler manufacturer is planning to launch more motorcycles based on the Triumph Speed 400 platform.

This means, Triumph Motorcycles has all its guns pointed at Royal Enfield. However, Triumph Motorcycles has just 15 dealerships in India. This severely limits the reach of the British two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.

In order to overcome this limitation, Triumph Motorcycles in partnership with Bajaj Auto is all geared up to open 100 new dealerships in India by the end of FY2024. This will allow the British two-wheeler manufacturer to expand its reach in the country and significantly improve its sales.

This is very crucial for the success of the newly launched Triumph Speed 400 and other upcoming mass-market Triumph motorcycles based on the same platform. This includes the upcoming Triumph Scrambler 400X motorcycle as well.

Speaking about the newly launched Triumph Speed 400, the motorcycle broke every price assumption made by reputed media firms in the country with an aggressive price tag of Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom). However, this pricing is only available to the first 10,000 customers.

That being said, the standard pricing of the newly launched Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle stands at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the Harely-Davidson X440 prices starts from Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the Triumph Speed 400 is a 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, DOHC engine. This engine is tuned to produce 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Furthermore, the motorcycle also sports a 6-speed gearbox with slip & assist clutch.

Thoughts About Triumph's Plans To Open 100 New Dealerships

With plans to open 100 new Triumph Motorcycle dealerships by the end of the financial year 2024, the British two-wheeler manufacturer is on the right path to curb the dominance of Royal Enfield in the 350cc+ motorcycle segment.
