Tata knows how to play its ball when it comes to promoting its cars. The Indian automobile manufacturer, to create awareness around EVs, came up with an innovative campaign during the Indian Premier League.

Tata has displayed a Tiago EV car at IPL matches at every venue. Sounds quite normal, right? Well, here's the catch - Tata Motors will donate Rs 5 lakh towards enhancing the biodiversity of coffee plantations in Karnataka for every ball that hits the Tiago EV.

The automaker, the official sponsorship partner of this IPL season, had earlier announced the donation. Tata Tiago EV was hit twice by the ball during the IPL 2023, first by Ruturaj Gaikwad during a match between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow SuperGiants.

The next hit was by Nehal Wadhera during the match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he hit a straight six, which landed on the Tata Tiago EV.

This means that the company will donate Rs 10 lakh towards enhancing the biodiversity of coffee plantations in Karnataka. Chennai Super Kings won the tournament on May 29th, beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets.

Cars were displayed across all 12 stadiums where IPL matches for the season were conducted. This is not the first time Tata has created such campaigns. One such initiative was the '100 Reasons to Go EV with Tiago EV' campaign, which focused on identifying the mental barriers towards EV adoption.

Tiago EV is currently the fastest booked electric car in India, receiving 10,000 bookings in just 24 hours, and has amassed a total booking of 20,000 by the month of December 2022.

This entry-level EV is offered with two battery packs - MR & LR; The smaller one, MR, is a 19.2kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of 250 km, whereas the larger one, LR, is a 24 kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of 315 km.

Available in four variants - XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux, the price of Tata Tiago EV starts from Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes all the way up to Rs 12.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Thoughts About Tata Tiago EV Campaign

Tata Motors' endeavors to promote electric vehicles through the IPL platform with such campaigns are daring and should be appreciated. This campaign displays Tata's commitment to green mobility and a cleaner ecosystem.
