Though sunroofs are not the most practical features to have in a car, especially in a hot country like India, they sure do attract car buyers. So, in a bid to boost sales, Tata Motors has now introduced sunroof in its mid-spec variant of the Tata Altroz hatchback.

This newly introduced XM+ (S) trim level of the Tata Altroz premium hatchback is priced at Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the new Tata Altroz XM+ (S) the cheapest car in India with sunroof.

This newly launched variant is based on the XM+ variant and sits just below the XT trim level. Thanks to the launch of this variant, customers no longer need to opt for the top-spec XZ+ S variant for a sunroof, which apparently costs Rs 9.04 lakh (ex-showroom).

Despite the affordable price tag, the Tata Altroz XM+ (S) variant comes well-equipped. Some of the noticeable features in this variant include rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, auto door lock, a 7-inch infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, smartphone integration, electrically adjustable ORVMs and more.

It is also worth mentioning that the XM+ (S) trim level of the Tata Altroz is available with three engine options. This includes the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a CNG version based on the same engine, and the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

Speaking about powertrains, the 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine in the Tata Altroz puts out 84.82bhp and 113Nm of torque. In comparison, the CNG variant based on the same engine puts out 76bhp and 97Nm of torque in CNG mode.

On the other hand, the 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine outs out 88.78bhp and 200Nm of torque. Furthermore, all these engine options come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. There is also a dual-clutch transmission option on the higher-spec petrol variants.

That being said, the Tata Altroz XM+ (S) trim level with a diesel engine is priced at Rs 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the same trim level equipped with the CNG-compatible engine is priced at Rs 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom).

Thoughts About The Cheapest Car In India With Sunroof

With the launch of the Tata Altroz XM+ (S) variant, customers keen on the sunroof feature no longer need to opt for the top-spec XZ+ (S) variant. As such, we expect this new variant to attract quite a few customers to Tata dealerships across the country and improve the overall sales figures.
