Tesla Developing Supercharger V4

1 year ago 63

It is a well-known fact that Tesla’s Superchargers are the best charging solutions for electric cars. This vertically integrated infrastructural element is the reason behind the success of the electric carmaker. Currently, mostly the V2 model is the most widely used, while V3 model is being seeing increased output. But it seems like the Supercharger V4 is deep in development as plans have been leaked about a new station construction plan which is being deployed in Danvers, Massachusetts.

Currently, the Tesla Supercharger has a capacity of between 90 kW to 250 kW, so it is not the fastest in the business but the most ubiquitous network, especially in North America. Tesla also added something called the Urban Supercharger which is meant for parking lots and garages and has a peak capacity of 72 kW.

The new Supercharger V4 with up the ante further at 300 to 350 kW. It will likely also add the CCS connector to the Supercharger network in North America like it has already done in Europe which will open up the network to non Tesla vehicles.

The plan application for Danvers, Massachusetts has a new design as well. It is also significantly bigger than the Urban Charger. This will be another feather in Tesla’s cap.
