Simple Energy Electric Scooter Test Ride Dates Revealed: EV Test Ride Organised In Multiple Cities

Simple Energy quickly became one of the premium league of electric vehicle manufacturers in India back in 2021 when it launched its first electric scooter. Called the Simple One, it gained fame for its claimed range of 236 kilometres. Although this is the range in ideal conditions, Simple Energy claims it has a range of 203 kilometres in real-world conditions.

The scooter also boasts some brilliant features like a 7-inch touchscreen instrument cluster, 4G connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, Music Control, Geofencing, Remote telemetry, Document Storage, Find My Bike, and Preventive Maintenance, etc.

The Simple One is powered by two battery packs of which one is fixed and the other is removable. Together, it has a capacity of 4.8kWh. 0-40km/h is done away with, in just 2.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 105km/h and even gets fast charging capabilities.

Simple Energy's proprietary fast-charging network called Simple Loop has the capability to recharge the scooter's battery really quick, gaining a range of up to 2.5 kilometres in just 60 seconds. The company plans to install these chargers across the country. The electric scooter also looks great.

Simply put, the Simple One is very well capable of becoming the best electric scooter in the country. However, the deliveries of the scooter have been deferred multiple times and the brand is yet to start deliveries.

Regarding this, the brand had recently issued a statement that the deferral had to be done keeping the safety aspect of EVs in mind. It does seem like the recent incidents of electric scooters bursting into flames sent Simple Energy engineers back to the drawing board and the test track. It does seem like the brand is almost at the end of testing and a production-ready model is expected to be revealed soon.

Ahead of the production-ready model being revealed, Simple Energy has announced the final dates for the test rides of the scooter. Since it is a Bangalore-based brand, test rides will take place in the city first, between 20th and 22nd July, 2022.

This will be followed by Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Panaji, Ahmedabad, Indore, Jaipur, NCR, Lucknow, Patna, and Bhubaneshwar. This test ride drive is expected to go on until the 15th of September.

Suhas Rajkumar, the Founder & CEO of Simple Energy said, "We are delighted to begin the test rides and give customers a sense of what we have been building. We aim to offer the maximum number of test rides to those who have been waiting to ride the Simple One. Additionally, we plan to add more cities in the coming months."

The Simple One was launched at a starting price of Rs 1.09 lakh, ex-showroom for the standard variant. The long-range variant which boasts a claimed range of over 300 kilometres is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh, ex-showroom. Deliveries are expected to begin soon after the test ride campaign ends.
