The Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle partnership has sent ripples through the Indian motorcycle industry with the launch of the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle in the country. This new motorcycle is co-developed and will be manufactured by Bajaj.

Thanks to such an arrangement, the partnership has been able to aggressively price the new Speed 400 motorcycle. In fact, the introductory price for the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle stands at just Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom).

With the pricing part sorted, Bajaj has now confirmed that the service cost of the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle will be lower than the Royal Enfield motorcycles. According to Triumph, the service interval for the Speed 400 will be in line with Triumph's international models.

This means the service interval for the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle stands at 10,000 miles (16,093km) or 1 year (whichever is earlier). In comparison, Royal Enfield's service interval stands at 10,000km or 1 year (whichever is earlier).

In addition to the long service interval, Triumph is also offering 2 year or unlimited kilometre warranty for a truly peaceful ownership experience. That being said, Triumph is yet to disclose the information regarding the quantity and configuration of the oil taken by the Speed 400 motorcycle.

Coming to the powertrain, the new Triumph Speed 400 is powered by a 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, DOHC engine with 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Furthermore, the motorcycle also comes equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with Slip & Clutch.

In terms of hardware, the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle comes equipped with a tubular steel perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe and a twin-sided cast aluminium swingarm. While the suspension duty is taken care of by 43mm USD forks at the front and a gas-charged monoshock at the rear.

The new Triumph Speed 400 also comes equipped with disc brakes at both ends, measuring 300mm at the front and 230mm at the rear. This motorcycle also features dual-channel ABS assistance for more effective braking performance.

Thoughts About The Triumph Speed 400 Motorcycle Service Interval

With a service interval of more than 16,000 kilometres, the new Triumph Speed 400 will be a very suitable ride for many adventure enthusiasts. However, automobiles with long service intervals generally require more oil.

Since Triumph is yet to disclose this information, we cannot come to a conclusion that the service cost of the Triumph Speed 400 motorcycle is more affordable than the Royal Enfield motorcycles.
