Raptee Electric Motorcycle Manufacturing Plant Commissioned In Chennai

Raptee, the premium electric motorcycle startup from Chennai has plans to commission a new manufacturing plant. The factory is spread across 3 acres and will house a majority of Raptee's Research and Development team on the same campus.

The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 1 Lakh units. The facility will also serve as the primary production plant for Raptee for the next 24 months. The Company plans to employ 470 people with an investment of Rs 85 crore for electric bike manufacturing.

The centrally located property was inaugurated by Mr Shaji Koshy, Former Sr.Vice president at Royal Enfield and an advisor to Raptee. The manufacturing facility will also feature the state of the art development and testing facilities on-site. It will also feature a dedicated battery pack assembly line.

Speaking about the newly set up plant, Dinesh Arjun, Co-founder and CEO, of Raptee, said "This is a huge leap forward for us. We are at an inflexion point where we move from a small R&D outfit to becoming a full-blown OEM and we've identified the perfect property to maintain the balance for the years to come."

Dinesh further added, "We've been very particular about having the R&D and Manufacturing teams in the same campus to improve collaborations in this extremely crucial period for the company and that meant the entire property will need to be inside the City. This facility ticks all those boxes and will help service our customers better."

Jayapradeep Vasudevan (JP), Chief Business Officer, Raptee, said, "This move is a big motivation for the entire team at Raptee as the new facility houses a dedicated block for the Admin and R&D, which provides a much better-working ambience for our team to enjoy and contribute to the growth journey of Raptee. This facility is big enough to cater to the growing size of our team for the next two years."

Expressing his joy at the inauguration of the new factory, Shaji Koshy, Former Senior VP at Royal Enfield, enthusiastically commended the young minds from Chennai for their outstanding achievement in developing an exceptional product. He expressed his wholehearted support for the team, acknowledging their potential to make a significant impact in both the Indian and global electric vehicle (EV) industry.

Speaking about the motorcycle itself, Raptee is yet to reveal all the details. However, the brand's website does reveal a few details about the upcoming motorcycle. To start, the Raptee electric motorcycle features a street-naked design.

The motorcycle is expected to feature all-LED lighting and a fully digital TFT console. The performance of the motorcycle according to the website, will feature a top speed of 135kmph, and a 0 to 60kmph time of under 3.5 seconds.

The Raptee electric motorcycle could feature a range of 150km per charge. The battery would charge from 0 to 80% in 45 minutes using a fast charger. We can expect the electric motorcycle to be priced starting at around Rs 1.50 Lakh

Thoughts About The Raptee Electric Motorcycle Manufacturing Plant

Raptee will be developing the motorcycle completely in-house and is expected to be an indigenous product. The new manufacturing facility will help fast-track the development and move towards launching the electric motorcycle soon.
