Since its introduction, Ola Electric has been gaining significant popularity in the market. Their electric scooters have become increasingly favored by urban commuters due to their convenience and eco-friendly nature.

Recently, Ola has started accepting bookings for its budget-friendly electric scooter called the S1 Air. In connection to that, they have stopped selling the S1 model of the e-scooter. Now, Ola will offer only the S1 Air and S1 Pro models in the Indian market.

The purchase window for the S1 Air is currently open exclusively for the S1 community and those who had previously booked the scooter. The initial response to the launch of the Ola S1 Air has exceeded their expectations. They have clocked more than 3,000 sales within the first few hours.

Ola S1 Air houses a 3kWh battery pack that powers the hub motor, which has the capacity to produce around 4.5kW of power. Ola claims a range of 125km on a single charge. The battery takes 5 hours to charge fully.

The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40km/h in 3.3 seconds and reach 60km/h in a matter of 5.7 seconds. The scooter can clock a top speed of 90km/h. There are three riding modes on offer - Eco, Normal and Sports.

Even though the S1 Air is the most affordable one in the range, the electric scooter comes loaded with several features. These include cruise control, a touch screen cluster, proximity unlock, call alerts, party mode, navigation, vacation mode, digital key, document storage, profiles, and moods.

To keep costs down, Ola Electric has reduced the screen resolution to 800x840. The S1 Air has a flat floorboard, making it more practical compared to the S1 Pro. Additionally, the grab handle is now a single-piece metal unit. The underseat storage capacity is 34 liters.

The S1 Air is equipped with drum brakes both at the front and rear for braking. It uses telescopic forks in the front and dual-shock absorbers at the rear for suspension. Additionally, the scooter features steel wheels instead of alloy wheels.

Thoughts On Ola Discontinuing The S1 Model

Ola's choice to discontinue the S1 model might be aimed at giving more focus to the upcoming Ola S1 Air. While this news could disappoint customers who were interested in or currently own the S1 model, it also reflects Ola's dedication to improving their product lineup and offering better choices.
