Mercedes AMG GLC: The 673bhp Hybrid SUV

Mercedes recently unveiled their new AMG GLC to the world which has a new design, better ergonomics and a new powertrain. The SUV will be available in two variants: 43 and 63 S e-performance.

The Mercedes AMG GLC 43 4Matic version is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that produces 416.7bhp and 499Nm of torque. The engine gets help from a belt driven generator that makes 13.86bhp. The new GLC 43 sprints from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The Mercedes AMG GLC 63 S e-performance is also powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which is linked to a motor that generates 201.9bhp and connected to a 6.1kWh battery. The engine has a total output of an astounding 673.2bhp and 1020Nm of torque!

The GLC 63 S e-performance can sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds, with a limited top-speed of 274km/h. Mercedes says that these upgrades seen are due to using electricity and the car can run on a pure-electric mode for up to 12km.

Both variants of the Mercedes AMG GLC come with 4-wheel drive and feature AMG Dynamics which boost the electronic stability and steering response. Also, AMG Ride Control, a setting that increases comfort on bumpy and uneven terrains, comes as a standard feature on the cars.

AMG being the performance lineup of the Mercedes' fleet features top-of-the-line hardware to enhance the driving feel. As such, the GLC comes with a sports braking system, active rear steering, and a better sounding AMG exhaust system.

Coming to the design aspect of the new Mercedes AMG GLC, it features an AMG radiator grille with vertical strips, performance focused air intakes, and chrome accents throughout. In the rear, we see a quad-tip exhaust with a nice-looking diffuser, both in a gloss black finish. It also gets a roof spoiler.

The AMG GLC 63 S e-performance will get AMG 21-inch wheels in a classy matte black finish with brake callipers in yellow which stand out against the black rims. On the inside, we see the standard yellow and black colour scheme on the steering wheel, seat belts, and seats, with Nappa leather upholstery featured all around the car.

It is unknown whether the Mercedes AMG GLC will come to India in the near future, but one car that is India-bound is the new-generation GLC SUV which will be launching on August 9th.
