Maruti Suzuki Jimny Bags More Than 31,000 Bookings – Waiting Period Stretches Beyond 8 Months

Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Jimny SUV in India and the newly launched 5-door SUV has already bagged more than 31,000 bookings. Thanks to its high demand, the waiting period for the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV stretches up to 8 months.

Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the SUV is available in two variants - Zeta and Alpha. Coming to the prices, the Zeta trom level with manual transmission is priced at Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the top-spec Alpha variant with automatic gearbox is priced at Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom).

According to Maruti Suzuki, the demand for manual variants of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV is greater. Also, among the two trim levels on offer, there are more takers for the top-spec Alpha variant of the Jimny SUV.

Coming to the powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 103bhp and 134.2Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options include a 4-speed automatic unit and a 5-speed manual transmission.

It is also worth mentioning that all variants of the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV come with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system which consists of a low-range gearbox for better off-roadability.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the manual variant of the Jimny SUV returns a fuel efficiency of 16.94km/l, whereas the automatic variant is slightly less fuel-efficient at 16.39km/l. This gives the Maruti Suzuki Jimny a range of more than 650 kilometres on its 40-litre fuel tank.

In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV with a similar powertrain returns a fuel efficiency of 20.15km/l (19.89km/l for the ZXI and ZXI+ trim levels) for the manual variant and 19.80km/l for the automatic variant.

In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV comes equipped with auto headlamps, a large 9.0-inch infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, climate control, alloy wheels, headlamp washers, and more.

Thoughts About Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Though the Maruti Suzuki Jimny sits in a segment of its own, its nearest competitor is the Mahindra Thar SUV. However, the 5-door layout of the Jimny SUV gives it a distinct advantage over the Mahindra Thar when it comes to practicality.
