Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova Hycross

As we had reported earlier, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto will miss out on a few features compared to its platform sibling, the Toyota Innova Hycross. Priced between Rs 24.79 lakh and Rs 28.42 lakh, Maruti Suzuki’s new MPV is slightly cheaper than Toyota's MPV. Let us see how the two MPVs differ on paper.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova Hycross: price comparison

Here’s how the prices of the two MPVs compare:

Alpha+ 7 seatRs 28.42 lakhZX 7 seatRs 29.35 lakh
--ZX (O) 7 seatRs 29.99 lakh

Toyota offers Innova Hycross in four trims, while the Invicto only gets two trims. Both MPVs get two seating options and are powered by a strong-hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a electric motor that produces 184hp (combined).

Maruti Suzuki Invicto Zeta+ vs Toyota Innova Hycross VX: features comparison:

The entry-level trim Invicto Zeta+ is priced between Rs 24.79 lakh and Rs 24.84 lakh, and it is Rs 24,000 more affordable than the similarly equipped Innova Hycross VX trim. Let’s compare the two base versions of the two hybrid MPVs with respect to their features list:

What has helped Maruti Suzuki to reduce the prices of the Invicto is by offering fewer features compared to the similarly-equipped Innova Hycross. The Zeta+ does not get parking sensors while the VX gets front and parking sensors. Another parking aid missing on the Invicto is the 360-degree camera as it only gets a reverse parking camera.

The Invicto also misses out on automatically adjusting IRVMs as well as welcome lights on the wing mirrors. What is also omitted on Maruti Suzuki’s new MPV are rear window defogger and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The Invicto (top) gets champagne gold accents, while the Hycross (bottom) gets silver accents.

Interestingly, the Invicto gets six airbags as standard across the range but the Innova Hycross only gets it on the VX (O), ZX and ZX (O) trims.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto Alpha+ vs Toyota Innova Hycross ZX: features comparison

While the Invicto Alpha+ variant is priced at Rs 28.42 lakh, the Innova Hycross ZX is priced at Rs 29.35 lakh, Rs 92,000 dearer than its Maruti Suzuki counterpart. Here’s how the two top-spec trims compare:

As mentioned, the price difference between the top-spec trim is significantly larger than the lower-spec trims. The Invicto Alpha+ gets only six speakers with its 10.1-inch touchscreen, while the Hycross ZX gets a JBL-tuned nine-speaker system.

Another factor for the big price difference between the two top-spec trims is down to the fact that the Invicto only gets 17-inch wheels and the Hycross gets 18-inch wheels. Even the windshield wipers miss out on the mist wipe function and the armrest in the second row are non-adjustable on the Invicto.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto (left) misses out on powered ottoman that are a USP of the Innova Hycross.

The Invicto also misses out on powered ottoman seats that have been one of the unique selling points (USP) of the Innova Hycross. Maruti Suzuki also does not offer Invicto with the same top-spec trim as the Innova Hycross – ZX (O) – which gets Toyota Safety Sense System or ADAS. This was done to keep the prices of the Invicto down.
