Maruti Suzuki Brezza Mileage Figures Drop By More Than 13 Per Cent – Here’s Why

Ahead of the festive season in India, Maruti Suzuki updated the Brezza SUV in the country. However, the recent update has resulted in a significant drop in mileage figures for the automaker's sub-4m SUV.

Speaking about this update, the variants of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV equipped with the 5-speed manual transmissions no longer sport the automaker's famed mild-hybrid tech. Thanks to the removal of this fuel-saving feature, mileage figures for the updated Brezza SUV has dropped more than 13 per cent.

In terms of numbers, the fuel efficiency figures for the updated version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza with manual transmission now stand at just 17.38km/l. In comparison, the fuel efficiency figure for the previous iteration of the Brezza SUV stood at 20.15km/l LXi and VXi variants.

That being said, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is also one of the few SUVs in the market that comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit as an option. The fuel efficiency figure for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG stands at a commendable 25.52km/kg (in CNG mode).

Other changes introduced with the update include the removal of some important safety features such as the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and hill hold assist. However, Maruti Suzuki has now equipped all seats with seatbelt reminders as standard.

Coming to the powertrain, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine in the updated Brezza SUV continues to produce 99.2bhp and 136Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the CNG variant of the sub-4m SUV puts out a respectable 86.63bhp and 121.5Nm peak torque.

In terms of gearbox options, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV continues to be offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, CNG variants come exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The latest update on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is quite difficult to justify as the updated model ends up with the removal of some decent safety features. However, the biggest down point of this update to most of the automaker's customer base will be the significant drop in mileage figures.
