In a recent online press conference, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra and Mahindra, confirmed that the company will not enter the lucrative electric two-wheeler space and it will focus on electric passenger and commercial vehicles. It was in 2019 that Mahindra announced 100 per cent takeover of Peugeot Motorcycles (PMTC), after having acquired 51% stake in the company in January 2015. With complete acquisition of Peugeot, one would have expected Mahindra to jump into the Indian electric two-wheeler space, but for now, Peugeot will be focussing on Europe and China. In fact, Mahindra is yet to introduce Peugeot two-wheelers in India,

At the time of full acquisition, Jejurikar served as the President - FES & Two Wheelers & Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The Peugeot brand will continue to be used on future products from the manufacturers under the trade licence agreement between Peugeot Motorcycles and parent company Peugeot. The Peugeot design teams continue to assist the design and development of PMTC products, in close cooperation with the PMTC management and the Mahindra Group.

Presently, Mahindra Two-Wheelers manufactures few electric two-wheelers at its plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, such as the Peugeot E-Ludix electric scooter. Of course, all Peugeot two-wheelers manufactured in India are for export markets, especially Europe and China.
