Mahindra Thar EV! To some, the very positioning of the 'EV' tag next to the Thar name is blasphemous and ridiculous. However, knowing what the future of the automobile industry is going to look like, some realistic renderings of the Mahindra Thar EV have surfaced on the internet.
The fact of the matter is electric vehicles are the future and all manufacturers at one point or another will have to turn to an all-electric vehicle lineup. While Mahindra is still quite a distance away from an all-electric portfolio, the Indian auto giant has not shied away from launching new EVs.
In fact, Mahindra was one of the first mainstream automotive brands in India to go the EV way with the Reva and the e2o. We have even seen an electric Mahindra eVerito. Mahindra has even shared its vision to launch multiple electric vehicles in the upcoming future. It is certain that Mahindra hasn't envisioned an electric Thar yet. However, that isn't to stop others from imagining one.
Bimble Designs is a personal blog that specialises in automotive sketches and realistic concepts. The latest work produced by Bimble Designs is this rendering of the Mahindra Thar EV. It is extremely vivid and expresses what Bimble Designs think the Thar EV should look like, and we agree.
In terms of design and styling, the overall silhouette looks very similar to the current Mahindra Thar. However, there's more to it. A lot more. The first element to draw your attention will be the massive tyres. These are airless tyres with a solid construction and some pores to absorb shocks. The realistic styling comes into the picture when you realise that it has the tread pattern from a BFGoodrich A/T tyre!
It is only after you have a good look at the tyres that other elements in the rendering come to your attention. The Mahindra Thar EV sports a custom bumper with an LED bar in the centre. The bumper stretches up almost halfway up the grille, which is now non-existent. It is an electric vehicle and there is no radiator that needs the air flow.
The doors have additional protection, the fenders have extensions, the roof gets a custom rack that does look like it can support a tent and of course, there's a humungous LED bar. Bimble didn't really reveal any ideal powertrain specs for their render, but we suspect a good 200bhp and 500Nm should suffice.
While some speculate about upcoming models of the Mahindra Thar, we do know that there is a fice-door Mahindra Thar coming our way and that is something exciting for those who want more space along with the off-road and on-road abilities of the current Mahindra Thar.
The current Mahindra Thar in the meanwhile, continues to bring in thousands of bookings for Mahindra and the waiting period for the same still stretches out into a few months.
Thoughts On Mahindra Thar Electric Vehicle Rendering
Often, there's no harm in using a little imagination. In this case though, there's a whole lot of good, in imagination. Bimble Designs seems to have done a relly good job at imagining what an electric Mahindra Thar would look like and we do wish for someone at Mahindra to sit down and take notice of these renderings and maybe even take it to the extent of mass production.
