Kia India has recalled over 30,297 units of the Carens due to a faulty digital instrument cluster. Kia said that the faulty instrument clusters can be fixed through a software update, and only the affected units will face the update.

The issue that the digital instrument cluster had was that it wouldn't switch on properly resulting in the screen going blank. Kia will contact those who bought the Kia Carens which were manufactured from September 2022 to March 2023 and request them to visit the service centre for a check-up and a software update, if need be.

This is not the first time Kia has recalled the Carens. In October 2022, the Kia Carens was facing an Airbag Control Unit issue but was patched up through a software update, again. Also, in October 2019 and March 2022, Kia recalled the Seltos for fuel-pump problems.

The Kia Carens base variant is priced at Rs. 10.45 Lakh (Ex-Showroom) and is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that pushes out 113bhp and 144Nm of torque. The Kia Carens top-end model is priced at Rs. 18.90 Lakh and comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 114.4bhp and 250Nm of torque through a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Thoughts On The Kia Carens Recalled

Since Kia recalled over 30,000 units of the Carens for a faulty digital instrument cluster, we can only hope they manage to resolve the issue with their Software Update, otherwise they will have a lot of work to do, redoing the systems for so many vehicles.
