Maruti bounced back to the SUV game with an awesome SUV last year. We're talking about Maruti's flagship hybrid SUV, Grand Vitara. Upon launch, the SUV became one of the fastest-selling hybrids in the country.

In a recent development, Maruti Suzuki has increased the Grand Vitara's price starting Monday, July 17. According to the manufacturer, there will be a price hike of Rs 4000 for all the strong hybrid variants.

The sudden price hike is due to the inclusion of a new safety feature. Grand Vitara, the badge-swapped model of the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, competes against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, among others.

Hybrid versions of the Grand Vitara SUV will now have a new pedestrian safety feature. In a regulatory filing, Maruti Suzuki states that they've included an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) in the intelligent electric hybrid variants of the Grand Vitara.

Maruti stated in the regulatory filing that the newly added safety feature aims to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians by alerting them to the presence of a vehicle. The Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System emits an alarm sound audible up to a distance of five feet.

Speaking of the engine, the strong hybrid variant puts out 114bhp of peak power. The engine produces 91bhp and 122Nm of torque, whereas the motor produces 78bhp of power and 144Nm of torque. The variant comes with an e-CVT transmission.

Maruti Suzuki claims an average of 28km/l, and the SUV can travel upto 25km on pure electric power, making it the most fuel-efficient SUV available in India. An e-CNG version of the Grand Vitara was launched in January.

Inside, the Grand Vitara has a panoramic sunroof, an optional all-wheel-drive system, a heads-up display, a 9.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, wireless charging, ambient lighting, all-LED lighting, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster among others.

Thoughts On Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Price Hike

Even though the inclusion of the latest tech justifies the price hike, this might still come as a surprise to potential buyers. The hike amount is very reasonable and must be affordable for the customers who opt for this SUV.
