Honda Teases New Motorcycle – Likely To Be Launched Next Month

The festive season in India is a really good time frame for automobile companies to launch their new products and benefit from added sales push. As such, it is very common for automotive companies to launch new products ahead of the festive season in the country.

Now, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India teased their upcoming motorcycle. We expect this new motorcycle to be the upcoming Honda SP160. This upcoming motorcycle is expected to share its powertrain and chassis with the outgoing version of the Honda Unicorn.

This means the upcoming Honda SP160 motorcycle will be powered by a 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine in the Honda Unicorn is tuned to produce 13.27bhp at 7,500rpm and 14.58Nm at 5,500rpm.

It is also worth mentioning that this engine in the Honda Unicorn comes with a 5-speed gearbox. However, the final drive ratio is likely to be changed if the motorcycle features smaller 17-inch tyres.

On top of this, the upcoming Honda SP160 motorcycle is expected to share many hardware and electrical bits from the outgoing version of the Honda Unicorn. This will make the new motorcycle familiar and also reduce development cost.

As such, we expect the upcoming Honda SP160 motorcycle to feature a telescopic suspension at the front and a hydraulic-type mono suspension at the rear. However, braking hardware is expected to be similar to the one in the Honda XBlade motorcycle.

This means the upcoming Honda SP160 will feature a bigger 276mm disc brake at the front, and 130mm drum brakes at the rear. Honda is also likely to offer a 220mm disc brake option for the rear wheels. Moreover, single-channel ABS will be part of the standard fitment.

In terms of styling, the upcoming Honda SP160 is likely to take plenty of inspiration from the smaller Honda SP125 motorcycle. However, we expect the Honda SP160 motorcycle to feature a few distinct styling elements.
