Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda has launched the Shine 100 in India. The introductory price for the Honda Shine 100 is Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The Honda Shine 100 sees the Japanese manufacturer delve into the entry-level 100cc motorcycle for the first time in India. The new Honda Shine 100 will take on the Hero Splendor and bookings for the bike are now open.

The Honda Shine 100 is powered by an all-new 99.7cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is OBD-2 compliant and is capable of running on E20 (petrol with 20 per cent ethanol mix) fuel.

The Honda Shine 100's engine has been optimised for fuel efficiency, though a mileage figure has not been provided as of now. What we know is that the Shine 100's engine pushes out 7.61hp and 8.05Nm of peak torque. The new Shine 100's engine is paired with a 4-speed gearbox.

The Honda Shine 100's engine sports quite a few features that help make it affordable to run and service. These features include a solenoid valve that acts as an automatic choke system allowing for one-time starts no matter the weather and an external fuel pump that reduces maintenance times.

The Shine 100 has a seat height of 786mm, along with a seat length of 677mm. The ground clearance of the Honda Shine 100 is 168mm and the commuter bike sports a 1,245mm long wheelbase to help it deal with our rough roads.

The Honda Shine 100's design is inspired by its larger sibling, the Shine 125. The Honda Shine 100 sports all-black alloy wheels, a halogen headlamp, and 5 colourways, all of which have a black base with stripes in the following colours - red, blue, gold, green and grey.

Other features on the all-new Honda Shine 100 include an aluminium grab rail, dual-pod instrument cluster, combi-braking and side stand with engine inhibitor that prevents engine start while the side stand is engaged.

Thoughts About The All-New Honda Shine 100

The all-new Honda Shine 100 sees the Japanese firm enter the entry-level motorcycle market. With an introductory price of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the new Shine 100 looks to be quite an interesting offering in a segment dominated by the Hero Splendor.
