Honda Dio 125 Exhaust Note Teased – Here Is How It Sounds

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently released a 13-second teaser video of its upcoming updated Honda Dio scooter. Though the Japanese automaker did not reveal any details regarding the upcoming iteration of the Honda Dio scooter, we suspect the teased model to be the 125cc version.

Now, HMSI has released a new teaser where it reveals the exhaust note of the previously teased version of the Honda Dio scooter. It is also worth mentioning that the teased exhaust note is different to the outgoing version of the Honda Dio scooter.

This stark difference in exhaust note again gives rise to the suspicion that the teased version of the Honda Dio scooter is not just a visual update but a new version of the Honda Dio scooter with an uprated powertrain.

If the suspicion turns out to be true, this new engine in the teased version of the Honda Dio is likely to be a 125cc unit. Though the 125cc powertrain could be borrowed from existing 125cc scooters in the company's lineup, the engine could be tuned differently for better performance.

A closer look at the earlier teaser video reveals that the upcoming Dio sports new graphics that seems to have been designed to attract a younger demographic with its vibrant colour choices. However, the overall design continues to be very similar to the outgoing model.

At present, the outgoing version of the Honda Dio scooter uses a 109.51cc, single-cylinder engine. This engine is tuned to produce 7.75bhp at 8,000rpm and 9.03Nm of torque at 5,250rpm.

In comparison, the 123.97cc engine in the Honda Grazia 125 is tuned to push out 8.14bhp at 6,000rpm and 10.3Nm of torque at 5,250rpm. If the upcoming Honda Dio uses this powertrain, the scooter is likely to feel a lot more peppier.

We expect such a powertrain to be liked by its target audience and likely to pose some serious threat to sporty 125cc scooters such as the TVS Ntorq and Suzuki Avenis. Furthermore, the success of the Honda Dio 125 will also help the automaker extend its lead in the scooter segment.

Thoughts About Honda's New Teaser

The exhaust note revealed in the new teaser raises suspicion that the previously teased version of the Honda Dio scooter could feature a new powertrain that is likely to be a 125cc unit. However, we have to wait till the launch to confirm it is the 'Honda Dio 125'.
