Hero MotoCorp recently launched the Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle in India. This new motorcycle is based on the Hero Xtreme 200S 2V motorcycle but features an updated 4-valve engine along with a few cosmetic changes.

A few days after the launch of the Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle, it looks like Hero MotoCorp has decided to pull the plug on the older Xtreme 200S 2V motorcycle. It is also worth mentioning that the Hero Xtreme 200S 2V is no longer listed on the company's official website.

Speaking about the new Hero Xtreme 200S 4V, the motorcycle was recently launched in the country with a price tag of Rs 1.41 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the newly launched Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle Rs 6,000 more expensive than the recently discontinued Hero Xtreme 200 2V motorcycle.

As mentioned earlier, the new Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle comes equipped with a new 200cc, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine. Thanks to the 4-valve set-up, this engine now puts out 18.8bhp at 8,000rpm and 17.35Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.

This means the new Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle produces 6 per cent more power and 5 per cent more torque than the recently discontinued model. However, the newer model continues to use the same 5-speed gearbox as the discontinued model.

Coming to the cosmetic changes, the new Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle features new dual-tone colours - Moon Yellow, Panther Black Metallic, and Stealth Edition. Other noticeable changes include the addition of a new split handlebar and a tyre hugger.

In terms of hardware, the new Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycle comes equipped with conventional telescopic suspension at the front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. Though the new Xtreme 200S 4V features front and rear disc brakes, the model features just a single-channel ABS system.

Other features such as the digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps, LED taillamps, alloy wheels, and fuel injection continue to be offered without any changes. This digital instrument cluster is also well-loaded with features such as Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and more.

Thoughts About Hero MotoCorp Discontinuing The Hero Xtreme 200S 2V Motorcycle

Since the Hero Xtreme 200S 2V and the newly launched Hero Xtreme 200S 4V motorcycles were very closely priced, there was no point in offering the older model to the company's customers. This will also help the company streamline its production process.
