Suzuki Jimny
The Suzuki Jimny is manufactured in India. Yes, you have read that right. The 3-door SUV is a high;y desirable compact off-roader and also one of the best selling models in international markets.
Some countries even demand long waiting periods for the Suzuki Jimny and the price for a used Suzuki Jimny in such markets is usually higher than the list price itself.
Despite its success in international markets and strong eagerness from local enthusiasts, Maruti Suzuki is hesitant to launch the model in India. However, Maruti Suzuki is developing a 5-door version of the Suzuki Jimny in India and this model is expected to hit the Indian market very soon.
Mahindra Scorpio Getaway
It wouldn't be true, if we told Mahindra haven't sold the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway in India. The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway was introduced in 2007, but due to poor sales, the model was discontinued from the Indian market.
However, the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway has been well-received in other countries such as South Africa, Australia, Chile, New Zealand, Nepal and Indonesia.
Recently, the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway had been spotted testing in the Himalayas and we expect Mahindra may once again introduce this model in India.
Mahindra Roxor
Unlike the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway, the Mahindra Roxor is never sold in India. However, the model is based on the previous-generation Mahindra Thar Di.
This model is sold in the US market as a recreational, off-highway vehicle with an electronically limited top speed of 88.5km/h (55mph).
Thanks to its simple mechanicals and punchy yet fuel-efficient 2.5-litre diesel engine, the Mahindra Roxor has almost a cult-like following.
Toyota Rumion
As we already know that Toyota sells a few rebadged Maruti Suzuki models in India such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
However, this business model is not only practised in India but other international markets as well, and the Toyota Rumion is one such model which is essentially a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
We expect Toyota to launch the Rumion soon in the Indian market to fill the MPV gap below the Toyota Innova Crysta.
Toyota Belta
The Toyota Belta is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the model is currently on sale in the Middle-Eastern markets.
Though there are no official plans to launch the Belta sedan in India, Toyota may be looking forward to launching the model in future to fill the gap in its product lineup.
Thoughts About Cars Manufactured But Not Sold In India
Though a few cars in this list are craved by enthusiasts in the country, manufacturers sometimes could not launch these models due to strategic reasons. However, we hope some of these models on the list will eventually make their way to India given the changing market scenario.
