Harely-Davidson recently launched the X440 motorcycle in India with an aggressive starting price. As such, it becomes clear that the American two-wheeler manufacturer has its sights set on the Royal Enfield's 350cc motorcycle range.

That being said, here is a quick comparison between the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 motorcycle and the newly launched Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle. This comparison will be based on 5 parameters.

Design

The newly launched Harley-Davidson motorcycle is a butch-looking motorcycle with its large muscular fuel tank and a sleek tail section. Additionally, this motorcycle also features plenty of circular design elements to pull off the neo-retro looks.

In comparison, the design of the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a bit simpler and the motorcycle can be immediately identified as a Royal Enfield. Also, thanks to its simplicity, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has a lot of potential to be customised.

Features

As mentioned earlier, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a very simple motorcycle and does even come with LED headlights. However, the motorcycle is decently equipped with features such as a part digital-analogue instrument cluster, LED tail lamps, dual-channel ABS, tripper navigation module, alloy wheels, and disc brakes.

On the other hand, the Harley-Davidson X440 comes loaded with features such as all-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, and more. Other noticeable features include turn-by-turn navigation, call answer, music control, distance-to-empty, and gear position indicator.

Powertrain

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 motorcycle uses a 349.34cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine produces 19.94bhp at 6,100rpm and 27Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Like the motorcycle, the gearbox is a simple 5-speed unit.

On the other hand, the Harley-Davidson X440 uses a bigger single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. This engine is tuned to produce 27bhp at 6,000rpm and 38Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. It is also worth mentioning that the new Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle comes with a 6-speed gearbox.

Suspension & Brakes

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 comes equipped with a conventional telescopic unit at the front and twin shocks at the rear. In terms of braking, the motorcycle uses a 300mm disc at the front and a 270mm disc at the rear. Furthermore, the motorcycle also sports a dual-channel ABS system.

The Harley-Davidson X440 comes equipped with 43mm USD forks at the front and twin gas-filled shock absorbers at the rear. While the disc brake at the front measures 320mm, the company is yet to reveal the specification of the one in the rear. The motorcycle also features dual-channel ABS.

Price

Prices for the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 range between Rs 1.73 lakh and Rs 2.01 lakh, ex-showroom. In comparison, the Harely-Davidson X440 prices starts from Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

Thoughts About The New Harley-Davidson X440 & Royal Enfield Hunter 350

With an aggressive starting price, the new Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle has clearly gained the attention of its target buyers. Moreover, we expect the Hunter 350's sales to come down slightly despite possessing a significant price advantage.
