Harley-Davidson X440 Launched In India - Prices Start At Rs 2.29 Lakh

American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson has launched the X440 in India. The Harley-Davidson X440 is priced at Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Harley-Davidson X440 is offered in three variant levels - Denim, Vivid and S. The Denim is priced at Rs 2.29 lakh, the Vivid at Rs 2.49 lakh, while the S costs Rs 2.69 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).

The Denim sports spoked wheels, while the Vivid brings the bike to modern times with alloy wheels and dual-tone colours. The X440 S features diamond-cut alloy wheels, 3D decals and advanced connectivity features through the circular display.

The Harley-Davidson X440 is the first motorcycle made by the American firm in collaboration with Hero Motocorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer.

The Harley-Davidson X440 is powered by a single-cylinder engine, the first time a Harley-Davidson has sported a single since the Sprint and SX 250 from the 1970s.

The Harley-Davidson's single-cylinder engine is a 3-valve unit and features oil cooling. The engine produces 27bhp at 6,000rpm and 38Nm at 4,000rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Harley-Davidson X440 features a trellis frame setup. At the front, the X440 sports a 43mm upside-down front fork with a dual-cartridge damping system, while the rear features gas-filled twin shocks that are adjustable for preload.

Braking duties are handled by a 320mm disc, the biggest in the class. The rear also features a disc brake. Braking is aided by dual-channel ABS.

The Harley-Davidson X440 is a roadster that takes its design cues from the XR 1200 Sportster that was in production from 2008 to 2013. At the front, the Harley-Davidson X440 sports a circular LED headlamp with the Harley-Davidson badging running across its centre. The X440 sports a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a stubby rear-end, which plays host to the circular LED taillight and indicators.

Other design highlights of the Harley-Davidson X440 include the round digital instrument cluster, alloy wheels and chunky exhaust. The round display offers turn-by-turn navigation, answer calls, check messages and control music. The display also seamlessly switches between day and night modes thanks to an ambient light sensor.
