Touring on a motorcycle is one of the best things one can experience in their lifetime. Exploring places that are far off while having a wind-in-your-hair feel is something that can't really be explained but only needs to be experienced.

Though there is an EV revolution taking place in the automotive world, touring was one area that electric motorcycles couldn't really prove themselves in yet. The reason for the same is simple. Electric motorcycles have a limited range and range is everything in the touring world.

Most petrol-powered motorcycles meant for touring use a large fuel tank and even if the tank isn't large enough, refueling can be done in just a few minutes, thereby making them perfect for touring. The same can't be said for electric motorcycles.

Now though, it does seem like Energica is out to change just this with its latest motorcycle. Energica is a performance electric motorcycle manufacturer based in Italy. Its two other motorcycles named Ego and Eva have a top speed of 240km/h and 200km/h respectively. The motorcycles do the 0-100km/h acceleration run in just under 3 seconds!

Those are some seriously quick electric motorcycles. With its latest motorcycle though, Energica has focused more on range than outright performance. It is called the Experia and right from the onset, it does seem like the perfect tourer.

For starters, Energica developed a brand-new tubular frame that is specific to the Experia alone. Then came the battery, battery controller and motor that were specially designed for touring requirements. Images of the motorcycle also show a rather relaxed and upright riding position that will allow riders to cover longer distances a little more easily.

More importantly though, the range is just brilliant. Energica claims the Experia has a range of 418 kilometres at city riding speeds. Of course, this being an EV will lose out on a bit of range when you get onto the highway thanks to the higher speeds. However, with a real-world highway range of 257 kilometres, the Energica Experia seriously impresses.

Adding to the great range levels on offer is the fast charging on offer. The Energica Experia can be completely charged up in just around 40 minutes. The motorcycle is powered by a 22.5kWh battery pack that the company claims is the largest battery pack in a motorcycle yet.

The battery sends juice to a unique PMASynRM motor. It is a high-tech motor that combines the advantages of a brushless motor and of a brushed motor. As a result, performance is excellent and the motor is really efficient as well. In terms of output, the motor has a peak power output of 102bhp and a peak torque output of 115Nm.

Energica has packed the Experia with lots of technology. This includes a digital cockpit with multiple ride modes. Eco, Urban, Rain, and Sport are the riding modes that the motorcycle comes with. Apart from this, there are rider profiles that can also be customised.

The Experia as expected also features regenerative braking and there are four regen maps - High, Medium, Low, and Off. You also get low-speed forward and reverse assistance to help with parking the motorcycle.

In terms of hardware, the Energica Experia gets top-notch cycle parts. Braking is handled by dual 330mm discs up front with radially-mounted Brembo 4-piston calipers. Suspension is taken care of by a 43mm upside-down fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. The suspension is fully adjustable.

Energica Electric Motorcycles Launch In India

Back in 2019, there were reports of Energica launching its motorcycles in the Indian market as completely built units. The brand was expected to arrive by the end of 2020. However, the pandemic seemed to have other plans in mind for the world and Energica's India launch didn't really go to plan.

Now though, if the brand is still interested in entering India, the Experia seems like the perfect model to start off with. The Energica Experia will certainly sell in greater numbers than the Ego and Eva. Indian motorcyclists love touring and quite a few of the Energica Experia motorcycles sold in India will be put to good use.

Thoughts On Energica Experia Electric Touring Motorcycle Being Revealed

Prices for the Energica Experia haven't been revealed yet. However, it is expected to be priced a little lower than the Energica Ego which costs around 23,000 pounds (Rs 22.51 lakh). If Energica does launch the Experia in India, we expect it to be priced at around Rs 18.5 lakh, ex-showroom. This is a pretty good price for everything the Energica offers.
