Ather Energy Looking To Set Up Third Manufacturing Plant in India

The companys second manufacturing unit in Hosur is set to become operational by the end of the year.

Ather is looking to expand its production capacity in the years to come with the firm's second manufacturing plant set to become functional by year end. Now, as per a PTI report, the company has already engaged in talks with multiple state governments for the allocation of land for setting up a third manufacturing unit which will have an annual production capacity of about 15 lakh units. The company has reportedly held talks with several states including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana and Karnataka with the company expected to announce the finalised location as early as next month.

The company is reportedly looking at securing about 100 acres of land for the new manufacturing plant. Ather currently has a production capacity of 1.2 lakh units per annum from its current plant in Hosur. Once the second unit comes online this number is expected to be increased to 4 lakh units annually.

carandbike reached out to Ather Energy though the company has yet to issue a statement.

The company last month raised $128 million in Series E round funding with plans to utilise the funds to expand its manufacturing facilities, charging infrastructure and retail network as well as invest in research and development.

Aside from getting its second facility operational Ather has plans to introduce new variants of the 450X in India later in the year as well as plans to commence exports in the near future.
