Ather 450S Electric Scooter Launched In India At Rs 1.30 Lakh – Bookings To Commence From Next Month

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ather Energy launched the new Ather 450S electric scooter in India at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). This new electric scooter will be available for bookings from the next month at Ather Experience Centres across the country.

Though the new Ather 450S electric scooter is based on the company's highly successful 450 platform, the newly launched variant of the Ather electric scooter comes equipped with a smaller 3kWh battery pack.

Despite the smaller battery pack, Ather Energy claims that the new Ather 450S electric scooter can go as far as 115 kilometres on a fully charged battery pack. Also, the company claims that the model can achieve a top speed of 90km/h.

Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Ather Energy, said, "Within the category, the 450S will break new grounds and will offer first-of-its-kind tech features in the performance scooter segment, raising the bar in terms of riding pleasure and safety while still delivering on performance."

It is worth mentioning that the company is yet to reveal any further details regarding the new Ather 450S electric scooter apart from its battery pack size, range, and top speed. As such, we expect the company to reveal more details ahead of commencing bookings of the model.

That being said, we expect the scooter to come with features such as the same 7-inch digital display, 4G LTE connectivity, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and more. However, we do not expect the model to feature premium tech such as hill-hold assist, ride modes and reversing function.

Also, starting from today, Ather Energy updated the prices of its electric scooters in accordance with the revised FAME 2 scheme. This means, prices for the Ather 450X electric scooter now starts from Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore).

Thoughts About The New Ather 450S

With the launch of the new more affordable base variant of the Ather 450 range of electric scooters, Ather Energy will be able to attract more customers, which in turn could help improve the overall sales figures of the EV maker.
