Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda has launched the OBD2-compliant Shine 125. Prices for the new Honda Shine 125 start at Rs 79,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new 2023 Honda Shine 125 is offered in two variant levels - Drum & Disc. The drum brake version of the new Shine 125 is priced at Rs 79,800 while the disc brake trim level costs Rs 83,800 (all prices, ex-showroom).

The Honda Shine 125 continues to draw power from the same fuel-injected 123.94cc single-cylinder engine. Honda has updated the engine so that it now complies with OBD2 emission norms.

The engine which features Honda's ACG starter motor and can run on E20 blended fuel produces 10.59bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm at 6,000rpm all of which is sent to the rear wheel by a 5-speed gearbox. The 2023 Honda Shine 125 also gets an external fuel pump.

The Shine 125 sports telescopic front forks and twin springs at the rear which offer 5 steps of adjustment. The Shine 125 offers 162mm of ground clearance.

The base version of the Shine 125 sports drum brakes on both ends while the higher-spec variant gets a 240mm disc brake. The brakes are aided by the combi-brake system and the commuter motorcycle rides on 18-inch wheels. These 5-spoke alloy wheels are shod with 80/100 tubeless tyres.

The design of the new Honda Shine 125 remains unchanged compared to its predecessor. The Shine 125 sports a single-pod DC headlight with a body-coloured cowl and chrome garnish. The shiny stuff can also be found on the side panels and on the heat cover for the side-slung muffler.

Honda is offering the Shine 125 in five colour options - Black, Geny Grey Metallic, Matte Axis Grey, Rebel Red Metallic, and Decent Blue Metallic.

The Shine 125 is now being offered with a special 10-year warranty package from Honda. This includes the regular 3-year standard warranty package and an optional 7-year extended warranty.

Speaking about the launch, Sutsumu Otani - President, CEO & Managing Director, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, "Leading the 125cc motorcycle segment, the success of brand Shine is a testimony to the love and trust of our customers. As we launch the 2023 Shine 125, I am confident, it will create a new benchmark in its segment and further strengthen our position."

Thoughts About The 2023 Honda Shine 125

Honda has updated the Shine 125 to comply with the new OBD2 emission norms while also future-proofing it for E20 fuel. Add in the 10-year warranty package and the Shine 125 has become a sure-shot contender for people looking for a 125cc commuter, not that it needed the extra hype.
