1 Millionth Renault Rolls Out Of Indian Production Plant

French carmaker Renault has crossed the 10 lakh (1 million) production milestone in India. The new milestone comes less than a month after the French marque celebrated selling 9 lakh cars in India.

The 1 millionth car to roll off Renault's production plant in Chennai was a dual-tone Kiger compact SUV finished in Radiant Red with a black roof. The Renault Kiger is one of three cars currently produced by the French firm in Chennai.

Along with the Kiger, Renault India currently produces the Kwid entry-level hatchback and the Triber 7-seater MPV at its production facility in Chennai. Renault's Chennai production plant currently has the capacity to produce 480,000 cars per annum.

As stated earlier Renault India recently celebrated crossing the 9 lakh mark in terms of sales in the country. The French firm also exports vehicles from its Chennai production facility to countries in the SAARC, Asia Pacific, Indian Oceanic Region, South Africa and East Africa regions.

Speaking about the new production milestone, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations, "Achieving the production of 10,00,000 vehicles in India is a significant milestone for Renault. Renault along with alliance partner Nissan is continuing to invest in their India operations. Earlier this year, the Renault-Nissan alliance announced an investment of Rs 5,300 crore into India to develop 6 new vehicles. These vehicles include 4 C-segment SUVs and two electric vehicles in the A-segment.

Thoughts On Renault's Latest Milestone

French carmaker Renault has crossed off yet another milestone in India, this time in the production department. With new cars including an EV on the horizon, the future looks bright for Renault in India.
